Canker sores

Canker sores

20-25% of people in America deal with canker sores.

Common triggers and contributing factors

•Physical Injury: Trauma from dental procedures, vigorous brushing, ill-fitting dental appliances, or accidentally biting the cheek or tongue.
•Nutritional Deficiencies: A lack of essential nutrients, specifically vitamin B12, iron, folic acid, and zinc.
•Food Sensitivities: Reactions to acidic or spicy foods (like citrus, tomatoes, and chocolate), as well as ingredients like sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) found in some toothpastes.
•Emotional and Hormonal Factors: High levels of stress and anxiety, as well as hormonal fluctuations during menstrual cycles.
•Medical Conditions: Underlying issues that affect the immune system, such as HIV/AIDS, celiac disease, Crohn's disease, or Behcet's disease.
•Genetics: A family history of canker sores suggests a hereditary predisposition.

Personally I get them when I accidentally bite my cheeks or if one of my kids head but me on accident and injure my mouth. It happens from Injury.

Salt is commonly used to treat them and I think anyone else who experiences them can attest that it’s a very painful process.

So I’ve made this post to share a different method of treating them. -
When I get canker sores I oil pull once a day and in my coconut oil I combine a dropper full of oil of oregano and clove infused oil.

I also apply clove infused oil directly to it as needed for pain

You can also put drops of clove infused oil on a cotton round and put over the sore.

When I do this it’s usually gone in 2-3 days and I get relief treating it not more pain.

Clove is has anesthetic properties and can numb the area providing pain relief. It is antibacterial and antimicrobial and so is oil of oregano disinfecting the area and aiding in wound healing. ❤️🩹

Coconut oil supports soothing the inner mouth tissues and drawing out bacteria.

Hopefully this little alternative can you help you if you get canker sores and of course if your root cause isn’t injury like mine is I would definitely evaluate that so you have lasting relief.
