Xylitol

XYLITOL
Edit: I shared on my page so that yall are able to share this without copy pasting. Just go to my page and click share. I was also asked to share the study so I’m sharing the link. https://academic.oup.com/eurheartj/advance-article-abstract/doi/10.1093/eurheartj/ehae244/7683453
There’s been a new study and everyone is in a tizzy so I’m gonna go ahead and break that down.
I read the study myself let me give a brief overview.
They followed 3000 people for 3 months watching them consuming things containing xylitol. They took blood samples of these people and looked at the amount of xylitol in their system. They determined that those with the highest level of xylitol in their system were at risk of cardiac issues, those who already had cardiac issues were at risk, those who were predisposed to cardiac issues were at risk.
So what does this mean?
Xylitol in things like toothpaste and mouthwash is safe. Xylitol actually has sooo many benefits for oral health.
Xylitol in moderation is safe.
Xylitol as a total sugar substitute? Not a good idea.
What are alternatives? Monk fruit (make sure it’s free of erythritol) stevia, honey.
